The long-awaited revamp to Snapchat’s Android application was finally unveiled this week.
Snapchat said in a blog post that the rebuild took more than one year, and improvements covered features including lenses, Stories and the process of taking Snaps.
The Google Play Store listing for the app also cited the ability to add photos and videos from users’ camera rolls to Snapchat’s My Eyes Only section, as well as eight new supported languages: Filipino, Gujarati, Hindi, Malay, Marathi, Punjabi, Vietnamese and Urdu.
The new languages mirror one of the main reasons for the app revamp: The rebuilt app is faster and takes up less space on smartphones, making it more accessible to people with lower-end devices or in areas with poor connectivity, including regions where the added languages are spoken.
