So, I pointed my Droid at:

skype.com/m

and started the process to try out Skype for Verizon Wireless. Unfortunately, as of March 25 3:30am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), my Droid was not recognized as an Android phone (or BlackBerry). As you can see, I was told that Skype mobile is not available for my phone.
