Skype 1.5 for Symbian Released: Handful of Enhancements and a Bunch of Known Issues

Attention users of Symbain powered phones (including the more recent Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8 and C7, there’s a brand new Skype app available for you.

Note that there are separate releases for Symbian S60 and S^3:

Skype 1.5.0.12 for Symbian^3

This release includes a few improvements:

– Profile view look and feel improved
– IM text size changing possibility
– Improved the look and feel of profile, contact list, auhtorization IM, calling and SMS areas

You might want to take a close look at the numerous known issues and suggested workarounds before updating the app. Various issues on various phone models include:

– (All touchscreen phones) Audio is lost if SMS message is received during Skype call
– (All touchscreen phones) After setting a custom Widget background picture, the background is inherited from wallpaper
– (All touchscreen phones) Unable to sign in for the first time when ‘Ask when needed” is selected at connection prompt
– (Sony Ericsson) Text in input fields on sign in/new account is unreadable
– (E72) When a phone call comes in while listening to voicemail then the sounds will be mixed
– (N95) No volume control via the hardware keys
