'Skins' Creator Speaks Out

On today’s Morning Media Menu, we discussed the controversy that has bubbled over about the new MTV program Skins with GalleyCat’s Jason Boog. A British import and ratings winner (although EW.com reports that ratings have dropped considerably since the premiere), the show has come under fire for some of its racier content.

The show’s creator Bryan Elsley has written a response to the negative buzz, saying the show is a “rather old fashioned television series” that deals with the issues of real-live teens.

In the UK, viewers and commentators very quickly realized that although there are some sensational aspects to the show, Skins is actually a very serious attempt to get to the roots of young people’s lives.
