Public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker is in the news after being hired by Genting New York, the remaining candidate in the bid for the long-political Aqueduct racino project. Genting New York, a Malaysian gambling and resorts company, hired the firm to “help deal with media and community relations,” a New York Daily News article on the subject quotes a recent news report as saying.
The Daily News article, however, goes on to suggest there’s more to the story:
But despite SKDKnickerbocker’s designation as a communications firm, one source who knows the scene points out that the company, which has offices here and in Washington, employs some serious political muscle. As the firm’s Web site notes: “When a politician, organization or corporation faces a challenge, they turn to us – the kind of clients we’ve helped and the nature of the challenges they’ve overcome says a lot about us.”
The next hearing regarding the project is scheduled for today.
