Shutterstock Adds Reverse Image Search to iOS App

Users can now upload their own pictures to the Shutterstock app to search for photos that are similar in terms of content and style.

Stock photo company Shutterstock updated its iOS application, introducing reverse image search to users. The feature originally launched on the web in March.

With reverse image search, users can upload their own pictures to the Shutterstock app to search Shutterstock’s database of more than 80 million images for photos that are similar in terms of content and style.

The feature is powered by machine learning technology, and Shutterstock said the platform will become smarter as more users upload photos:

As the computer surveys and recognizes the images people capture with their phones, the algorithm will develop and improve.
