Hot 97’s studio on Hudson Street — the scene of a number of rap-related shootings, including the one that landed Lil Kim in jail for perjury and thus spawning a critically-acclaimed album and reality show — is getting video cameras installed as part of the NYPD’s $9 million plan to install 500 in strategic spots across the city, the Daily News reports. We also hear that fans and industry watchers have dubbed the station “Shot 97.” Clearly, the headline writers at the local tabloids have slept on that slam-dunk alliteration.
