She Has the Eyes That Move Markets

Want proof TV news, at least some, is still powerful? Yesterday, an on-air remark made by CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo — in which she recounted a conversation she had with Ben Bernanke at the White House Correspondents’ dinner — caused stocks to fall:

She was reporting live from floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the resulting trading roar almost drowned out the rest of her remarks.

Now, I don’t know what you did yesterday, but whatever I did, it certainly didn’t cause stocks to do anything.
