Following the success of the first Social Media Week in 2010, held Feb. 1-5 in New York, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and Toronto, a second Social Media Week was announced, with this one taking place Sept. 20-24 in Los Angeles, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and Milan, with the possibility of more cities being added.
The first Social Media Week of 2011 will be held Feb. 7-11 in the same six cities where this past February’s events were held.
Crowdcentric CEO and Social Media Week executive director Toby Daniels said in an email:
Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City are not only important as the first Latin American cities to take part in Social Media Week, but also as representatives of some of the key digital centers of one of the world’s most rapidly expanding cultural communities. Milan is significant as the tech center point of Italy, currently the country with the world’s largest Facebook reach and second-largest social-networking reach. And, L.A., the United States’ second-largest city, represents along with New York the most important media hub in the country.
We will be making further announcements in the coming weeks and look forward to watching the collaboration process unfold as each city begins to build their program and engage their communities. Social Media Week is unique in so many ways, and we value and appreciate your ongoing support and participation.
