Scripps Howard Foundation Awards Prizes to NYT, WSJ, Bloomberg News

The Scripps Howard Foundation today announced the winners of its 2009 National Journalism Awards. Several New York publications will take home prizes from the April 23 presentation in Tampa, Fla.

In the “Commentary” category, The New York Times‘ Nicholas Kristof will get $10,000 and a trophy for his work on the international plight of women. Scripps Howard named The Wall Street Journal Gerald F. Seib a finalist in the category.

Charles Duhigg also gets $10,000 for his environmental reporting in “Toxic Waters” for the Times.
