Ryan Grim, HuffPost’s longtime Washington bureau chief, is leaving the publication he has been a part of since 2009, announced editor in chief Lydia Polgreen. His last day will be May 12.
“It’s pretty much impossible to overstate Ryan’s contributions to the journalism and culture of HuffPost,” Polgreen wrote in a memo. “He’s been with us since January 2009 and has become one of the most authoritative voices in Washington on a wide range of topics, but his speciality has always been giving voice to the voiceless and taking on powerful institutions trying to screw over the most vulnerable among us.”
Grim is joining The Intercept as its Washington bureau chief, confirmed a spokesperson for The Intercept.
Senior politics editor Sam Stein, who tweeted out his thoughts about Grim’s departure, will be responsible for the bureau as Polgreen conducts a search for a politics director.
