Rupert Murdoch Bids a Fond Farewell to Steve Dunleavy
The New York Post‘s Steve Dunleavy long goodbye continued last night at a party in the theater district. The New York Observer‘s John Carney (he was moonlighting, apparently) caught up (snuck in?) with the festivities just in time to catch Rupert Murdoch toast his longtime employee.
“Your whole career defies description,” Mr. Murdoch said. “You were not always the most reliable person. I once wrote you a check for $30,000 as a surprise bonus. You were so surprised you spent the whole night in Costello’s.
