Updated: Rumors Suspect Microsoft Exec Headed to Zynga

Editor’s Update: Zynga and Microsoft have confirmed that Don Mattrick will be joining Zynga as a member of the Board of Directors and as new CEO. Mark Pinkus will remain at Zynga as its Chief Product Officer, as well as Chairman of the Board.

According to AllThingsD, the head of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Division Don Mattrick could be leaving the company to accept a high profile position at Zynga.

Multiple sources close to the situation told All Things D that Mattrick could become the company’s CEO, or at the very least, will work in “close partnership” with Zynga’s current CEO and founder Mark Pincus.
