Roll Call: Porter Novelli, Ogilvy, Portland Communications, and More

Barbara DeBuono

Dr. Barbara DeBuono has been appointed president and CEO of ORBIS International, a nonprofit that treats blindness and provides eye health care around the world. Dr. DeBuono was previously chief medical officer and global director of public health and social marketing at Porter Novelli. PN has appointed Susan Hayes to the global director of public health position. Hayes has worked at a number of firms previously, including her own, S. Hayes Consulting. In her new role, she’ll work out of the New York office reporting to Julie Winskie, global president, clients.

Lizelda Lopez has rejoined Ogilvy PR West as VP of the public affairs practice. Lopez was most recently an appointee in former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s administration. Now, besides her work in the public affairs area, Lopez will help with multicultural outreach in California.

Burson-Marsteller has appointed Lisa Travatelloto the position of global consumer and brand marketing practice chair and creative director. She’ll also sit on the Business Operations Team, which is comprised the firm’s senior execs. She was previously EVP and curator of creativity at Current Lifestyle Marketing and has served as EVP and chief creative officer at Weber Shandwick.

Charles McLean has joined Portland Communications as GM of the New York office, managing the firm’s U.S. clients and helping with clients out of the Nairobi, Kenya, and London. He has previously worked with the firm, in Dubai in 2010 and in Kazakhstan earlier this year. He’s also served as the director of comms at the World Economic Forum and has worked at a number of agencies including Hill & Knowlton and The Dilenschneider Group. He’s worked as a journalist around the world, winning an Emmy award for his work covering the protests Tiananmen Square. Portland Communications was founded by Tim Allanformer deputy press secretary to British PM Tony Blair.

Fleishman-Hillard has opened an office in Orange County, CA, building on its Southern California presence in Los Angeles and San Diego. The firm has also added two SVPs to the region — Steven Shimek and Mike Rose. Shimek joins the L.A. office from Ruder Finn where he led West Coast business development efforts. Rose joins the San Diego office from Nuffer, Smith, Tucker.

Paige Young has joined MSLGroup’s Publicis Consultants as VP. She was previously director of marketing and corporate communications at Expedia, and previously served as VP of corp comms at Weber Shandwick.
