Hill+Knowlton Strategies has brought on Beth Balsam to serve as president and CEO of its U.S. operations, beginning this Fall. Balsam comes to H+K following 11 years at Citizen Relations, most recently as a managing director in its New York office, and she previously served as general manager of the firm’s New York office. Prior to Citizen, Balsam was a senior vice president at FleishmanHillard, where she spent eight years. (Release)

Publicis Worldwide has appointed Guillaume Herbette as CEO of MSLGROUP and executive vice president of Publicis Worldwide, effective August 24. Herbette, who currently serves as global Vice Chairman of Operations at FleishmanHillard, will succeed Olivier Fleurot, who is taking on an SVP role within Publicis. As well as leading MSLGROUP, Herbette is also tasked helping to create more seamless ways of working with all Publicis Groupe brands – such as Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBH, Starcom Mediavest Group, ZenithOptimedia, Publicis. PR veteran Ryan Sommer has joined ASTRSK PR as an account director; he begins his new job on September 15th. In a Medium post, Sommer–who spent time at MaintainPR, Horn Group, Econsultancy and other firms–writes that he is joining ASTRSK in order to work “like crazy to shine a spotlight on tech for social good, and to reverse the widely held public stigma from tech’s few bad apples” (among other things). Elisabeth Rosario–former ASTRSK Managing Director and a member of Adweek’s “30 Under 30” for 2015–has accepted a role as director of communications at venture capital firm Spark Capital. Rosario, who already worked with several companies in Spark Capital’s portfolio while with ASTRSK, is only the second member of the firm’s marketing and community team. (Release)

Consumer electronics manufacturer Sonos has hired Pete Pedersen, formerly the CEO of Grayling, as its new global head of PR. In the newly-created position, Pedersen is tasked with handling international communications and haring the brand’s story as it launches products. Though the company is based in Santa Barbara, CA, Pedersen will be stationed in the Seattle, WA office (PRWeek).

Joshua Reynolds, who served as CEO of Blanc & Otus in San Francisco for the past two years, has left the firm for a job leading the marketing team at data analytics company Quantifind. (O’Dwyer’s)
