Waggener Edstrom promoted Tiffany Cook from EVP to VP/head of its consumer sector. Cook, who has been with WE for 16 years, will oversee related efforts across the retail, consumer technology, automotive, and spirits industries. PR Week tells us that she will report to co-founder/partner Pam Edstrom. Hill+Knowlton Strategies' Canadian operations named Dimitri Gourdin SVP and GM of its Montreal office. Gourdin, who earned a law degree at Paris' Panthéon-Assas University and a masters' from Paris Management School, previously served as VP of marketing/comms at BIOMOD, a biotech company serving the health and beauty industries. In the 90's he worked in crisis comms at Burson-Marsteller's Paris office and in 2005 he launched his own Montreal-based firm called Arcane Communications. Mark Goldman and Ryan McCormick, PR veterans and founders of both Goldman McCormick PR and Legal PR Team, have announced the creation of a new firm called, simply, Hemp Public Relations. We'll let you guess which sort of clients they plan to serve -- and it's OK if you're, like, a little slow... Art Stevens, former co-managing partner at StevensGouldPincus, has announced the formation of The Stevens Group, described as "Consultant and Merger and Acquisition Facilitator to PR Agencies." Stevens founded and ran LobsenzStevens, and he has long been involved in the PRSA in various roles. His new group will provide services like staffing, biz dev, mergers and acquisitions facilitation and more; while serving as founder and managing partner of the new group, he will retain his current title at SGP Worldwide. Joe Keenan has joined the Los Angles-based, LGBT-focused practice of New York's MWW as vice president. Prior to joining MWW, Keenan founded New Avenue Marketing, a firm dedicated to "changing the connection between brands and the gay/lesbian market." His firm's clients included Netflix, Nike and Time Warner Cable; he has also been an active member of various Los Angeles-area LGBT advocacy organizations. J Public Relations hired Erin Hopkins as senior publicist in its New York office. Hopkins joins JPR from Nancy J. Friedman Public Relations, where she served as senior account executive. A specialist in the hospitality space, she has planned and executed campaigns/events for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, Gansevoort Hotel Group and more. Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist Jarvis C. Stewart and PR veteran Rae Robinson Trotman founded the communications firm IR+Media. Stewart, who will serve as chairman/chief strategist, was formerly chief of staff for Alexis M. Herman, Labor Secretary under President Bill Clinton. Trotman will be co-founder and managing partner; she most recently held the VP position at Washington PR agency The Caraway Group. Ken Runkel joined New York-based strategy consulting firm Vivaldi Partners Group as a partner. Prior to the move, Runkel served as Landor Associates, another Manhattan consulting firm. While there, he worked for clients as disparate as NBC, CIGNA, E-Trade, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Cleveland Clinic, General Electric, and the NFL.
