Rivals.net Shuttered by BSkyB
British Sky Broadcasting Group pulled the plug on Rivals.net, its network of fan Websites for all 92 teams in the United Kingdom;s The Football League, paidContent:UK reported.
BSkyB will still keep soccer-news site Football365.com and its own Skysports.com up and running.
“Unfortunately, Rivals.net wasn’t performing as well as we’d hoped,” a BSkyB spokesman told paidContent:UK. “Therefore, the decision was made to close it.”
In other news involving the Internet and the beautiful game, Trinity Mirror will launch stand-alone soccer site MirrorFootball.co.uk
