AVN Columnist Calls Out Radar Online Over Pageant Story

SoCalScholarshipAssnLogoA couple of days ago, Radar Online published a report with a typically sensational headline. It read: “Miss America Pageant Preliminary Sponsor: Moonlights as Porn Star and Runs Gay Porn Sites.”

In the article’s wake, Adult Video News columnist Tom Hymes has chimed in with an Op Ed response that ridicules the article’s slant. He argues that what Ric Alonso does in his spare time has no bearing on the Southern California Scholarship Association, which produces a preliminary event to the Miss California and Miss America pageants. Alonso, who also goes by the adult film performer name of Jake Cruise and runs some X-rated websites, is an organization sponsor; his partner Ernie Koneck meanwhile serves as the group’s executive director. Writes Hymes:

Love Radar’s “exclusively learned,” as if Jake/Ric has been hiding under a rock. He hasn’t, of course, but neither has he opined publicly about his sideline, and for good reason!

There will always be an outlet like Radar Online that will remind people that gay porn somehow is the antithesis of the empowerment of women, which will be news to most sentient beings on the planet.

Expect this story to fanned by The Drudge Report and-or various “family values” bloggers. Especially since Hymes’ POV is highly questionable.
