Revolving Door: Director Paul G. Risser Leaves the Smithonian

Let’s not call it a sinking ship, because that wouldn’t be fair, or very nice, but it seems like a lot of people are bailing on the Smithsonian and/or trying to hide from embarrassing news stories. Today it was announced that Paul G. Risser, the acting director of the National Museum of Natural History is stepping down tomorrow. His tenure was short, replacing the guy who replaced Lawrence Small when he was hurried out for spending too much. Although there isn’t a lengthy report on why he’s leaving, other than, as the NY Times quotes, “I came here originally for a six-month period, and that has stretched longer,” you’ve gotta kinda figure that things must not be very fun there right now.
