Reuters has promoted Alessandra Galloni to global news editor, a new role at the company. Galloni most recently served as Southern Europe editor and enterprise editor at large.
Galloni previously worked for The Wall Street Journal for more than a decade; spending time as the paper’s Southern Europe bureau chief and a correspondent in London, Paris, Milan and Rome.
In a memo to staff, Reuters editor in chief Steve Adler explained Galloni’s role.
“While most stories will still be run day to day in the regions where the news events occur, the global news editor will develop story ideas that cross regions, identify and arrange coverage of how local events affect individuals, governments, businesses, supply chains, and markets in other regions, and facilitate collaboration among journalists across the globe,” wrote Adler.
