While the employment scene remains moribund, startup mania is taking hold across the country. Everywhere you turn, someone’s designing an app, starting a web site, a platform, a portal or some other whizziwig. But how do you know if your idea will work? And more importantly, how do you meet an investor, much less seduce him (it’s usually a him) into ponying up some cash? Where do all those VCs hang out anyway? Is there a Money Bar somewhere in the Financial District where they belly up for beer?
