Redford: Mobile Ideal for Short Films

Speaking at an event at the Mobile World Congress today, film icon Robert Redford told the audience that mobile is the perfect platform for distributing short-form video, including his passion, independent filmmaking. According to FierceMobileContent, Redford said, “Technology doesn’t get traction until artists push their way into it and conjoin with it – the more art lends itself to new technology, it’s going to drive it in new commercial ways.”

Redford’s Sundance Institute first dabbled in mobile in 1996 when, in partnership with the GSM Association, launched the Sundance Film Festival: Short Film Project featuring three- to five-minute shorts produced specifically for viewing on the tiny mobile phone screen.
