Reddit ramped up its efforts to prevent self-harm and suicide, entering a partnership with mental health text line Crisis Text Line.

Users who are flagged as struggling with self-harm or suicide will receive an immediate private message containing resources, as well as a recommendation that they text CHAT to 741741 in order to be connected with a crisis counselor. Crisis Text Line is also available to Reddit users who report that someone is experiencing issues.

Once contacted, crisis counselors respond via a secure online platform, and conversations can last as long as necessary until the problem is resolved.

Reddit has proven to be thoughtful leaders in the online safety space as it ensures that users have access to trusted mental health resources at all times.”
