Reporter Tags Along with a Savvier Rebecca Black

On this Friday, the Orange County Register goes with the perfect-fit topic of revisiting the remarkable year enjoyed by local YouTube sensation Rebecca Black. Reporter Peter Larsen accompanied Black on Thursday as she did interviews with KTLA, E! and to discuss claiming both the top Google search spot and top YouTube ranking for 2011.

By framing the article with tidbits from each interview, he cleverly shows just how far the singer has come in nine months. Larsen also tips what’s on the board for the 14-year-old CEO of RB Friday Inc. in 2012:

In the spring, she’ll star as one of the lead voice actors in the English-language version of Bunny Fu, which reportedly is the most successful Chinese animated movie ever. [Her manager Debra] Baum says there are also talks about doing a feature film based on Black’s unlikely Cinderella story of success.

A few months from now, a fourth single and video will be released. Given that she’s a YouTube-born star, the plan is to continue with the single-and-video model and hold off on releasing an album for now. She’s recorded a new version of “Friday,” too, one she says is truer to the artist she hopes to one day be, and that will eventually be released too.

It’s a another solid look at Black by Larsen, who scored the first media interview with the teen back in March.
