<em>Real Simple</em>'s Editor Notes Changes, Will Announce More Soon

Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive, Real Simple managing editor Kristin van Ogtrop, and Glamour executive editor Jill Herzig Real Simple editor-in-chief Kristin van Ogtrop today sent an e-mail to the staff that's still there about the folks who are leaving, a tipster tells us. She thanks the people who've "hung in there" and done "double duty" and says there'll be some new announcements soon: "Luckily the exercise will only be temporary. As you might guess, there is no shortage of talented, enthusiastic candidates who want to work at Real Simple. A number of us have had a whirlwind two weeks interviewing like mad, and I'm happy to report that I will be able to make an announcement about new staff members within the next two weeks." This week in particular the halls feel emptier, as Frances leaves to pursue a new career in accupuncture, Melinda leaves to pursue a new career in writing, Donna leaves to pursue other opportunities and Riza leaves for the fashionable shores of Vogue. If you didn't get a chance to bid any of them goodbye this week, there's still time with Riza and Melinda, who leave today. We value all the contributions they (and Renee, Mike and Paul, who have also recently left) made to the magazine, and wish them every success as they move on to new things. Although it will be an interesting exercise to see how we all feel with a little more elbow room after a couple of years of maximum occupancy, luckily the exercise will only be temporary. As you might guess, there is no shortage of talented, enthusiastic candidates who want to work at Real Simple. A number of us have had a whirlwind two weeks interviewing like mad, and I'm happy to report that I will be able to make an announcement about new staff members within the next two weeks. In the meantime--and most importantly--I can't thank you all enough for hanging in there and doing double duty where necessary to make up for the temporary staff shortage. It's your talent, flexibility and good humor that keep me coming in to work every day and, obviously, keep our readers happy, month after month.
