Reader's Digest Appoints Third CEO Since April

FOLIO: is reporting that Robert Guth has been named CEO and president of Reader’s Digest Association, replacing Tom Williams, who had been in the spot only since late April 2011.

Guth is taking the reins at a turbulent time, to say the least: in 2009, the company filed for bankruptcy, emerging in February 2010. In July of this year, the company was put up for sale.

In an email to staff, he said that RDA had an “unbelievably strong core business” but that it wasn’t “performing to its potential” and that he was put in place to enact “significant changes.”

RDA’s properties include not just Reader’s Digest, but also Every Day With Rachael Ray and Taste of Home, and many more food/gardening/home magazines.
