Revolving DoorIt sounds like Bloomberg is going to lose about 100 editorial employees to layoffs in the near future, with the politics and government teams in New York and Washington expected to be the biggest losers. Your pull quote: “the layoffs… signal the definitive end to Bloomberg’s long-held ambition of becoming a dominant player in Washington and political media.” The 100-job figure is less than five percent of the total editorial operation, which isn’t a huge number, but is still a blow to the organization that’s reeling from a collective morale deficiency. InStyle poaches Men’s Fitness publisher Patrick Connors to take over the same position at the Time Inc. publication that has been without a top business person since Nina Lawrence left in April… GQ hands The Style Guy column to former editorial assistant Mark Anthony Green. He replaces longtime contributor Glenn O’Brien, who is presumably moving on to other fashion closets… New Republic signs up Bob Moser, Michelle Legro and Stephanie Heimann… People.com and EW.com get a new head of product in the form of Nicholas Butterworth. He has been CEO at Kleverbeast … Defense One hires George LeVines as digital editor. He had been a freelance reporter for outlets including The Boston Globe.
