R.I.P. Mark G. Asher

The Washington Post today pays tribute (with two pieces) to its former sports reporter–and 40 year Post veteran–Mark G. Asher who passed away yesterday at the age of 60.

Fellow sports writer Ken Denlinger said: “None of us involved in the business for the last four decades or so knew a more dogged reporter, or anyone who overcame more physical problems to excel in a craft he deeply loved…. It’s hard to recall the exact miseries Mark was working through each time because, starting with juvenile diabetes, they kept piling on: kidney and pancreas transplants, dialysis, heart bypass surgery and so many broken ribs from falls that he eventually lost count.”
