Publishing Icon Bill Ziff Dies at 76

Bill Ziff, who ran Ziff-Davis, Inc. for over 30 years, passed away in his sleep on Saturday. The cause was prostate cancer.

At a Magazine Publishers Association breakfast we attended this morning, Bob Carrigan of competitor IDG, praised Ziff and expressed condolences to his family.

The New York Times obituary calls him “a polymath with a photographic memory,” and in Remembering Bill Ziff, on PCmag.com, Michael Miller writes:

“The era he ran Ziff-Davis remains a high point in technology publishing, and today’s technology media would look very different without him.
