Publishers Weekly 'Afro Pick Cover

The current cover of Publishers Weekly has managed to kick up some controversy:

In the cover story’s comments section, one reader explains her objections to the cover:

The woman’s head is down in a subservient, submissive position. It also looks like her hands are behind her back…like they are bound. Could you be any more demeaning to African American women?!?!?! You replaced her hair with an afro full of hair picks. This is a mockery of the natural hair movement (and trust me, it’s a movement) and African Americans.
