ProPublica Fully Staffed, Ready to Destroy Evil

ProPublica, the Paul E. Steiger joint dedicated to saving investigative journalism in America, finally filled out its news team. T. Christian Miller escapes the hemorrhaging Los Angeles Times to become a reporter, while another Left coaster, the Sacramento Bee’s Dan Nguyen, comes aboard as Web producer. Lisa Schwartz, a veteren researcher for World News Tonight, Good Morning America and ABC News Now among others, is ProPublica’s research director. Additionally, two interns — Sharona Coutts and Benjamin Protess — join the ranks of the paid, receiving nine-month fellowships for their hard work making photocopies.

Managing editor Stephen Engelberg is excited by the possibilities:

“Now that our full news team is in place, we’re gearing up to produce more investigative stories with ‘moral force.’
