Twitter To Launch Promoted Products In Middle East And Northern Africa

Twitter is set to launch Promoted Products in the Middle East and Northern Africa region, in a bid to attract more global advertisers and increase its revenue.

The Next Web reports that Twitter will be tapping Connect Ads to represent its offerings in the area.

Connect Ads will manage Twitter’s Promoted Products for advertisers in Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. There are also plans for a promotional and educational campaign to increase awareness of Twitter ads among larger advertisers and expand the market in the region. The Next Web also reports that Connect Ads will soon set up a dedicated team specializing in handling Promoted Products.

Twitter launched Promoted Products in the United States in 2010, and unrolled them to the UK in September 2011, followed by Japan in October 2011.

In June of this year, Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo announced that the company would offer Promoted Products in 50 countries – all of which might not have an actual field office, but they’d be able to sign on advertisers to buy Twitter’s ad products. The move to expand into the Middle East and Northern Africa is part of this aggressive expansion.

Promoted Products can currently be targeted by such parameters as location, which operating system is being used, the interests of individual users, and – most recently – gender.
