Project Food Blog Is Under Way at Foodbuzz

As initially reported on WebNewser in June, online food community Foodbuzz officially launched its Project Food Blog initiative, with the goal of uncovering new blogging talent in the food sector.

The contest will run 12 weeks, with entrants competing in challenges including writing, cooking and food photography. The grand prize is $10,000 and a feature on for one year. The winner will be revealed Dec. 13.

The first round of voting in the contest kicked off Monday, and the Buick LaCrosse is sponsoring Project Food Blog, receiving in return a branded environment for the contest, pre-roll and brand integration included with original Project Food Blog-related Web content, social-media support via Facebook and Twitter, and an offline sponsorship presence at the event Foodbuzz detailed last week, the Second Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival, to be held Nov. 5-7 in San Francisco.

Foodbuzz CEO Ben Dehan said:

We are thrilled to partner with Buick LaCrosse on this unique competition, which is designed to highlight the incredible talent of our thousands of food blog partners. Foodbuzz Featured Publishers are engaged and passionate consumers, and this partnership demonstrates that our community is as attractive to lifestyle brands as it is to brands in the food and consumer packaged-goods space.

Buick digital and social-media manager Janet Keller added:

Buick has a lot to offer to people who are interested in food and the culinary lifestyle. This is a great way for us to connect the Buick LaCrosse to an important group of new consumers.
