Producers Take Residual Pay Changes Off the Table

Heading into Day 11 of talks, the Writers Guild of America got a surprise when AMPTP withdrew their proposed change in the payout of residuals. The original proposal would have changed the formulas for paying residuals so writers would only receive payments after producers recouped basic costs, which the WGA has opposed from the beginning. The AMPTP is now calling for the WGA to resign one or more of its proposals.

The present contract expires October 31st.
