Fashion Designer Zac Posen Guest Edits Rebranded THR Style Section

The URL is very clever. Combining the fashion industry term pret-a-porter (French for “ready-to-wear“) with their outlet name, Janice Min and co. have come up with Pret-a-Reporter.

Fashion designer Zac Posen is the first guest editor of the new digital Style section launched today. More broadly and permanently at the helm is Hollywood Reporter style editor Erin Weinger:

Weinger previously served as director of digital content for fashion and interior designer Kelly Wearstler. Her career in fashion journalism began as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times IMAGE section. After leaving the Times, she consulted on new media projects for LA-based fashion public relations firm SPR before co-founding the editorial website

Hollywood trade watchers, some of whom are counting the days until a Deadline-Variety merger announcement, should pay particular attention to another aspect of this THR effort. Per the press release, it is the site’s “first foray into transactional content,” in partnership with retail publishing partner Reward Style:

Readers will have the opportunity to subscribe to a specially curated, monthly $39 Pret-a-Reporter FancyBox of gadgets, accessories and beauty items through product discovery e-commerce engine, The Fancy.

Weinger’s team encompasses senior style writer Merle Ginsberg, style editor/cover shoot stylist Carol McColgin, contributing editor Stephanie Chan and costume design specialist Elizabeth Snead. Weinger reports to culture editor Degen Pener.
