Prediction: Newspapers Die by 2022

So this is a rather weird one, but it’s not too far out-of-line with expert thinking. Plus, it’s a Tuesday, so why not throw something in a little off the wall?

Ross Dawson, a noted “futurist,” claims that the newspaper industry will be deemed “irrelevant” by 2022. In a speech to the Newspaper Publisher’s Association in Australia, Dawson predicted that mobile reading tools, like the iPad, would dominate the media world.

“More sophisticated news readers will be foldable, or rollable, gesture-controlled and fully interactive,” said Dawson.
