Photo Embeds, Not Links Get More Retweets

According to a Hubspot Twitter study, Tweets with photos are 94% more likely to be retweeted. However, Instagram links to images are 42% less likely to be retweeted.

The survey of nearly 500,000 random tweets showed that people respond well to photos – and since a photo is worth a lot more than 140 characters, photos are more likely to get attention. When Twitter removed Instagram’s image preview in the Twitter stream this past year, users linking to Instagram images are no longer seeing high numbers of retweets.
