Bob Guccione Jr. Comments on the Possibility of Penthouse Magazine Being Sold

Yes, it's still being published.

PenthouseNovember2015CoverAt the very end of Keith J. Kelly’s report about rumors that Penthouse magazine might once again be on the auction block, there is this quote:

“To be honest, I didn’t even know it was still being published. That kind of anonymity is going to make it tough [to sell].”

The quote is from Bob Guccione Jr., son of the magazine’s late founder. As a death knell for the adult magazine industry of yore, it’s right up there with last week’s big Playboy announcement. Doubly so when you consider that Kelly’s item published online Oct. 20, the fifth anniversary of Guccione senior’s death.

Another timely reminder of print and Penthouse’s bygone days is the Oct. 20 Vulture item  “The Beautiful, Dirty Vision of Gaspar Noé.” Let’s just say that the publication launched by Guccione in 1965 was a formative influence during the French writer-director’s teenage years. Pictured above is the magazine’s November 2015 cover.
