Facebook users upload more than 350 million photos per day, and PassionTag is aiming to convert some of those photos into tools for brand engagement on the social network.

The PassionTag application allows users to attach “SmartTags” to photos, enabling them to promote their passions for brands or causes. PassionTag offered the following examples of SmartTags and their desired results:

  • Market: market a product, service, or website
  • Promote: promote an event, an artist, music, or a movie
  • Drive: drive donations to nonprofits
  • Find: find and locate local merchants
  • Transact: drive commerce transactions and monetize the photo-sharing trend

From the user standpoint, PassionTag said in its overview:

Our platform includes the ability for consumers to create SmartTags and associate them with the photos they share online to enable deeper brand engagement.
