The joke in Hollywood is that Academy members hand off their ballots to their assistants, hairdressers and pool guys. So, the Academy just made at least part of this tribunal legit. Hair and makeup artists are the first new voting category since documentary was added in January 2001, bringing the grand total of voters to 5,830. And it’s a safe bet that when voting on categories other than their own, this group will fall in with the largest bloc, actors, who are 21.4%
