Majority of Gold Derby Journalists Bagged Best Picture Silver

A funny #envelopegate side note

Here’s a devilish statistic. Once the Best Picture dust had settled on stage at the 89th Annual Academy Awards and Moonlight been declared the correct winner, only 6.66% of Gold Derby’s panel of expert journalists was right.

For weeks and months leading up to the big day, everyone from Michael Musto to Pete Hammond to Nicole Sperling logs in at goldderby.com and adjusts their Oscar category predictions, locking them down this past final weekend. But after all was said and campaigned, the only sideline reporters who got the biggest prize right are Awards Daily’s Sasha Stone and Rotten Tomatoes’ Matt Atchity.
