Oscar newspaper coverage follows the money

In the Observer, Tom Scocca examines the symbiotic between newspaper Oscar coverage and newspaper Oscar-movie advertising. He finds there’s an awful lot of both, particularly this year, even though the American public’s interest in the awards hardly seems to be growing at all. The LA Times and TheEnvelope, of course, get special mention.

And it’s true: there is probably too much Oscar coverage. FishbowlLA is considering going dark on the Oscars for the next few weeks to balance things out.
