On Time Magazine's Person of the Year

Last year around Christmastime Rick Stengel went on ABC’s ”The Week” to dramatically unveil Time Magazine’s 2006 Person of the Year. Immediately after ”You” won, the entire panel — including George Will and Cokie Roberts and the host George Stephanopoulos — took turns approximating what can only be properly construed as a journalistic sheet beating of poor Stengel. It was, to be sure, a clever gimmick (if you go in for that sort of thing), but Stengel forever lost a fraction of his journo steet cred pulling that stunt.

Fast forward: one year later.
