Omnifone, Telecom Italia To Use Microsoft PlayReady
Microsoft is making some headway in Europe with its PlayReady content-access technology that replaces its PlaysForSure initiative. PlayReady lets content providers deliver pretty much any type of digital content using pretty much any business model.
The software giant announced separate deals with Omnifone and Telecom Italia. The first integrates PlayReady into Omnifone’s MusicStation unlimited mobile music service and will make it easier for MusicStation users to transfer music between their mobile phone and Windows PC. MusicStation is offered by a number of major mobile operators including Vodafone, Telenor, Hutchison Telecom and Vodacom.
