In the aftermath of the largest mass shooting in U.S. modern-era history, Central and South Florida reporters were faced with the unexpected Sunday task of trying to shed light on the motives and background of perpetrator Omar Mateen.
The Palm Beach Post spoke to someone who worked with Mateen at a courthouse, where both were responsible as security personnel for screening for weapons. Here’s what the unidentified person told the paper:
The co-worker was rattled enough by Mateen’s threatening behavior to quit rather than continue working with him.
