Twitter will begin a test in Canada next week of giving people the option to hide replies to their tweets.
Other Twitter users will still be able to see replies to those tweets, but they will have to tap a grey icon first.
Senior product manager Michelle Yasmeen Haq and product designer Brittany Forks said in a blog post, “We want to be clear and transparent when someone has made the decision to hide a reply, and we will be looking at how this feature gives more control to authors while not compromising the transparency and openness that is central to what makes Twitter so powerful.”
