NPR's Michel Martin to Commemorate Montgomery Bus Boycott With Live Special

Remebering Rosa Parks and the activists who followed.

NPR weekend All Things Considered host Michel Martin will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man–an event that inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott–with a live event in Montgomery, Ala. this evening.

The event will tie the civil rights movement of the ’50s and ’60s to the civil rights movement of the present, and will feature a panel of live scholars and activists, as well as a group of guests who will extend the conversation through Twitter, using the hashtag #busboycott60.
