Facebook’s Notify App Notifies Users of Its Demise

Facebook launched Notify in November, but on Thursday, Notify users saw a different type of notification—one alerting them to the app’s impending shutdown.

Facebook launched its stand-alone Notify application in November, but on Thursday, Notify users began receiving a different type of notification—one alerting them to the app’s impending shutdown.

Thursday’s no-more-Notify notification read:

Thanks for using Notify. We’re transitioning parts of Notify into other Facebook products, and the app will no longer be supported.

Not surprisingly, those “other Facebook products” mainly refer to Messenger and that app’s recently introduced bots. The social network shared the following statement with The Verge:

Since launching Notify, we’ve learned a lot about how to make notifications as timely and relevant as possible, and we heard from people using the app that Notify helped them stay informed about things they cared about throughout the day.
