Not All Newsday Staffers Are Cheering for Latest Hiring Binge

Newsday‘s announcement yesterday that it would add 37 new staffers to its ranks is pleasing news to unemployed journalists and the Teamsters union segment that counts the Long Island daily’s editorial staffers among its ranks. Still, not everyone at the Cablevision-owned paper is happy about the new hires, reports Keith Kelly at the New York Post.

“A lot of people feel we were completely duped by management,” said one veteran. “This totally shatters their credibility. We just took a 5 percent pay cut based on the premise that they were losing money, and now they do this.”
