Noon Newscasts Feature Expanded Coverage of Deadly Movie Theater Shooting

The story was 2,000 miles away from Manhattan, but every afternoon newscast was locked into breaking news mode. Moviegoers gathered in Aurora, Colorado, outside of Denver for the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Suddenly, a shooter unleashes a barrage of shots, killing at least 12 people and wounding at least 50.

WNBC and WNBC blew out their regular newscasts for the special report.

WCBS/Channel 2 with anchors Rob Morrison and Mary Calvi focused the first half of the broadcast on the tragedy.
